Ruby Javed, Ph.D., Chief, Forensic Sciences Laboratories Division at the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner
Dr. Ruby has over 18 years of experience in drug-related science in both the private and public sectors. She has served as an analyst at National Medical Services Labs.; the Chief Forensic Toxicologist/Lab Manager II at the State of Delaware Office of Medical Examiner-Coroner; Senior Scientist at Psychemedics Corporation; and currently the Chief of the Forensic Sciences Laboratories Division at the County of Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner. Dr. Ruby has also served as a private Forensic Toxicology consultant and expert for detailed opinion reports and testimony. She has been a member of several different forensic science organizations such as the Society of Forensic Toxicologists (SOFT) and has numerous publications and presentations under her belt.
Dr. Ruby leads research and development, QA/QC testing, statistical support, data management, clinical grant writing, strategic sourcing and supply chain operations projects. She has advanced knowledge of toxicology, pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamics principles stemming from her doctoral degree in Pharmacology/Toxicology including opioid research into the pathways involved with morphine tolerance and physical dependence. She serves as a team leader, subject matter expert and advisor with consulting experience, business acumen, scientific judgement, articulate communication and critical thinking skills. Dr. Ruby is actively engaged, energetic, a collaborative team member for designing new concepts, sharing insights, developing vision, solving challenges, implementing action plans and driving best business outcomes for forensically sound and quality testing services.
