Recommendation Letters

Student requests to teachers and counselors for a letter of recommendation should be made IN PERSON by the student, and followed up with a formal request through the Common Application (or alternative site used). Students must provide an electronic and paper copy of the Brag Sheet to anyone writing a letter of recommendation. A PDF of the form is provided below.

Writing a letter of recommendation is a large task for school personnel who put much time and thought into these letters and are completing them on their own personal time. Be sure to express your appreciation and respect any answer that is given if a teacher declines to write the letter.

Again, make sure that your Brag Sheet is ready to provide to the recommenders when you are making the request and make sure to ask WELL in advance (at least 10 business days).

Once the recommendation is written, MAKE SURE TO THANK THEM!
