Nick Popaditch will be forever immortalized as “The Cigar Marine” Once a Marine: An Iraq War Commander’s Inspirational Memoir of Courage, Combat, and Recovery.

Nick is a medically retired Gunnery Sergeant from the United States Marine Corps who was wounded in action during a firefight with enemy insurgents and was struck in the head by an enemy rocket propelled grenade (RPG). Numerous shrapnel wounds to the head and neck left him legally blind and partially deaf in his right ear.

Nick provides an in-depth and very personal account of his military service, wounding, and recovery. Follow Gunny Pop as he comes home to face the toughest fight of his life – a battle to remain the man and Marine he was.
